When I think of modern kitchens,

I instantly think either black, or white.

they would be glossy, simple, and clean.

people are usually afraid to go black for their cabinets,

but it actually looks very cool.

Here are some modern black cabinet examples.

Throwback Thursdays: The fun 50's!

Hi everyone! 

Hope everyone's Christmas was fantastic.

Today's topic is...

The Fun Fifties!

Whenever I think of the 50's, I think of roller skates, vibrant color, and va-va-boom hair.

It's full of glamour and leisure.

I am going to show you guys some photos of actual kitchens from the 50's 

and some modern takes on the 50's kitchens.

So this is not a kitchen,

but a diner.

I have to say, all it reminds me of are five guys burgers!

Bright sunny yellow!

Here are some lemony yellow with stark white and coca-cola red

again, the high gloss and checkered pattern with the red :)

again, the sunny yellow, poppy red, and stark white!

the colors in the 50's are pretty consistent.

this one also has the yellows, the reds, and the aquas.

This flooring was very popular as well.

warm and fuzzy wednesdays: rescue dogs & Christmas time!

I believe it is important to donate and help those who need help.

Whether it is for kids in Africa to get education,

or homeless dogs looking for a home.

today's topic is going to be rescue dogs.

operation paws for homes is a rescue agency who brings dogs from kill shelters.

If you're looking to adopt a dog, this sounds like a great local place!

Testimonial Tuesdays- Let's talk about my company: Green Kitchens USA

As you all know,

this blog is not just your average interior design blog.

I am the owner of a kitchen cabinet finishing company called Green Kitchens USA.

The kitchen I am going to show you today is in a lovely house in Ashburn, VA

owned by the Broadbent family.

She had beautiful maple kitchen cabinets that she did not want to replace,

just change the color to a creamy white

and add some custom features as well.

She added crown molding that extends all the way up to the ceiling,

columns on the island, and glazing for a more high-end finish.

My company also altered her cabinets that hold her refrigerator and her wall oven

because the new ones that she bought were too large to fit into the original cabinets.

She was extremely happy with the results

that she even asked us to refinish her table!

Her entire family loved the outcome

and we were happy to have served yet another satisfactory customer :)

Media Mondays: let's talk about HGTV's designer, David Bromstad!

David Bromstad is a designer who debuted through HGTV's Design star.

Out of countless opponents, he was able to win the final round which let him run his own TV show

called Color Splash since 2007.

Born in 1973, he is well known for his colorful and unique designs.

let's have a look at a couple of them

this is my favorite one.

He mixed in gray painted cabinets

with natural stain cabinets

which give it a really interesting appearance.

I have to admit, I love watching his show- even the older versions.

His ideas are so fresh and bright!

Silly Saturdays: take a break from the week's work and laugh!

Today, I found a very funny dog on Pinterest.

but I don't even need to say anything else 

because a picture is worth a thousand words, right?

or in this case, pictures

Futuristic Fridays: Fun with modern kitchens

Modern kitchens are in!

Everyone is looking for either slab style kitchen cabinets

or shaker style cabinets for that clean modern look.

This is a new era that everyone is raving about.

let's take a look.

I love how this designer paired these modern slab style cabinets with a clean white-

but also mixed in a traditional stain finish for the island

with stainless steel appliances. 

This kitchen feels light and airy!

This is a modern for those who are afraid to go TOO modern... 

it doesn't have the harsh effect on our eyes

yet still has the clean simple feel.

purple kitchen cabinets...? you bet!

not many people think outside the box

but this designer sure did.

The grey with the bright violet and crisp white really give this kitchen a high-end

futuristic look.

a nice cozy feel with clean style cabinets.

The greige color give off a sense of calm serendipity

and the green plants you see on the right side is the cherry on top.

completely white, simple cabinets.

But the thing I love the most about this kitchen is

the back-splash...

oh my goodness that is to die for

velvet royal purple?

paired with a nice stain color for the eating area.

Love the rounded shapes and the totally high end look.

This kitchen really looks like it's for some of the most successful businessmen.

awesome design. This kitchen is not for your average person wanting an average kitchen.

We are easily drawn to clean, simple, and crisp designs

would it be because our lives are so complicated?

nonetheless, the beauty of modern kitchens is truly incredible

and even with its simple designs, it never fails to look luxurious.
